I have a 06 Audi a4 2.0t 6 speed. The car runs perfect but has a really loud knocking or metal clanking noise during accleration. 1st and 2nd gear is really loud and then it seems to go away in higher gears.

I have a stage 2 southbend clutch w lightened flywheel
stage 3 apr chip flash
carbonio air intake
custom exhaust.

When I had the car serviced last the mechanic told me it was nothing to worry about. The car does not suffer any power problems and there are no lights on in the dash. It really could not run any better than it does but the noise is driving me crazy!! Any ideas??

I have an 03 A4 1.8t with a stage 2 southbend clutch and lightened flywheel as well, with apr stage 1, and have a similar clanking sound. No mechanic has been able to tell me what it is, so I know how you feel. Very annoying, but I have a feeling it has something to do with the clutch/flywheel.

I've heard of this complaint with aftermarket clutches and lightened flywheels too, so you may be on to something.
