Low Coolant - No Warning Light ?

My coolant is a few cm below Min, but no coolant warning light and no issues. Is that normal ? should I just fill back up to max, or does the level fluctuate driving, at rest, etc. ? Thanks.

I 've had a low coolant warning once but the level was quite a way below min at that time. Check the level when the coolant is cold ie after the car has been turned off for a couple of hours at least. Level should be between Min & Max. The level will increase slightly as the coolant heats up and expands into the reservoir. That's why the max level still leaves some space in the reservoir. The low level isn't right at the bottom of the reservoir as you don't want air bubbles being pulled back into the coolant system as the engine cools down and coolant gets sucked back into the engine area.

I just noticed a small puddle under my wifes q7, its under the passenger side wheel. Wiped it with a paper towel and its a pinkish color. Also checked the coolant tank and its below the min line. Are we thinking this could be a major issue. Car has ~39k miles. a 2018 i bought it used from a dealer 2 hours away but not sure if its sitll under warranty. Hoping a local dealer could still service it assuming warranty is still in effect.

+1 on what 4Fun says. The reservoir will appear near empty before the low light comes on.
Coincidence today. The old gal just this morning has peed a nice puddle of coolant onto my garage floor. Yup. Typical. It gets cold (+1 deg. F this morning.) and those M-Fing o-rings loose pliability then start to leak. Not the first time.
This time it's at the thermostat housing. (I just ordered a new thermostat via Amazon. $35. Might as well change it since I'll be in there.)
Now I have another project. Sheese.
Oh well, my last DIY thermostat job lasted 3 years so as it goes.....it's due. Just wish these things would wait until spring to pop!
All the best, Haya....
