More order changes for 2006...goodbye PX3 package.
Ordering a 2006 A4 Avant has become a very frustrating experience. I know the packages have all been shuffled around with significant content changes. I know the color green (which I liked) has been dropped, and I have to get the sunroof (which I don't want) to get leather (which I do want). I finally had an order together for a quartz grey with black interior. I specified the PX3 Technolgy Package because I have no use for Bluetooth. My salesman just called...I can't order the PX3 anymore and it is now deleted as a valid order item. Now, if I want xenon and memory seats, which I do, I have to go with the TBT package for $500 more. His first 2006 A4 shipment came in today (NH) and one of them has the PX3, but no more orders can be placed. The price of this car just keeps climbing and it's looking less and less like what I started out wanting. I had previously ruled out the 2006 Subaru Outback because they didn't offer the options I wanted, but if this gets much worse I may just say the heck with Audi.

i wonder how the germans do it...
The German/Euro market is used to placing exact orders for their cars, and happily wait 3 months for them (esp BMW etc). In the US its frustrating for us who want to pick it off the lot and deal a bit... but then the Germans dont have 10's of thousands of cars sitting at the port of LA for 6-12 months! (Those aren't audi's but just to make a point re: inventory).
Is this options package business just for N.America market or globally?

I did just test drive a Subie Outback again....
...and I guess I'll stay with my A4 order. I was starting to have some doubts about my choice, but no longer. I just couldn't get comfortable in the new Outback...not enough legroom for me and a very uncomfortable dead pedal. The passengers's side legroom is worse and is compromised by an intrusion from under the dash. My 6'3" body just doesn't seem to get along with this car.
So, in spite of the problems I'm having getting my order placed, I'll just sit back and wait the 60-90 days it will take to get this built and delivered.

Being from France I can tell you that my friends back home CRY when I show them prices.
They earn more, but the taxes are killing them.
Over 18% in sales tax for a car!!!

TBT is the only way I can see to get xenons...
...and memory seats. The PX3 package gave you the xenons and memory seats for $1250 MSRP. The TBT adds voice recognition for the audio system and Bluetooth to the PX3 package for $1750 MSRP. With the deletion of PX3, TBT seems to be the only way you can get xenons and the memory seats. I don't know who comes up with these packages. My own order now has to include the sunroof, voice recognition, and Bluetooth...all features I have no use for and didn't really want to pay for.
