Drove my wife's A4 last night for the first time in a while after she told me there was a musty/moldy odor coming from the A/C. Immediately upon starting the car, I could smell it. Seemed to get slightly better as time went on but maybe I was just getting used to it.
Thoughts? Mold from the A/C condensation? Anyone else experience this? I thought maybe a cabin filter, but after doing a search I thought I saw some posts indicating there was a TSB out for this.

My roommate had same issue with his B7. The heater cleaned it up pretty well. Running the fan w/o A/C for a minute or two before parking helps reduce condensation too.

Make sure the evaporator drains are functioning well. Had this earlier this summer, and noticed that there were no little puddles under the car when parked. I'm located in the southeast, and NEED a/c all the time. Took the car in for the musty smell and they did just the TSB at first, which sounded like just a duct deodorizing treatment. Obviously didn't help.
Had to take it back a second time and insist that they take a look at the evaporator drains. If they are blocked, then moisture stays in the system. You can replace the cabin filter if it's moldy, but the mold will come back unless the drains are clear. Looked at the invoice for the second visit, and true enough, the drains were blocked. No further problems since.
My $0.02.
