Default My coolant light comes on and then goes off after I have been driving for about 1 minute.

It has only started happening since it has been very cold here in Pittsburgh. Once I start driving it turns off. Should I get it looked at?

How about checking your coolant level? Seems to be a nice 1st step.

Default I've seen this many times in cars where the coolant level is marginal.

The colder it gets, the more the coolant contracts. As the engine warms up, the coolant expands. Not a big deal if it's low when the engine's cold, since a cold engine has no need for coolant.

Default If your coolant is low have plastic cooling flange on back of engine ...

checked for leaks. This is a known problem. Coolant should not be low unless there is a leak.

Default agree with the others that you should check your level of coolant.

mine was doing it only when the temps got below freezing but it was due to moisture in the switch below the coolant reservoir sensor. I suspect is was due to moisture that had seeped in there - it now has fixed itself - just as I was going to spray contact cleaner in the wiring connector.

Why is this STILL a problem after so many years?
