My CEL cam on a few days ago. Engine runs well but idle hunts between 800-1200 rpm when in Park or Neutral. Ran a VAG-COM scan and the following fault codes were present:
008583 - Bank 1; System too lean at idle
p2187-004-No signal/Communication - MIL ON
00825 - Leak in Air Intake System
p2279-002-Lower Limit Exceeded-Intermittent
001287-Idle Control System RPM: Higher than Expected
p0507-001-Upper Limit Exceeded
00808-Knock Sensor1 (G61):Signal too High
p0328-001-Upper Limit Exceeded-Intermittent

area based on the specific fault codes. Based on the lean mixture and the leak indication I'm assuming (but haven't found) a leak exists between the MAF sensor and the turbo. I could use leak finding tips and the location (picture) of the knock sensor. There were suggestions in the search that the knock sensor be retorqued to 20 Nm.

The intake leak is causing a lean condition. Address that and see if any other issues remain when that is corrected.
Start with the obvious, trace the intake system from the MAF to the throttle body. Pay attention to hose clamps and such. Pull on hoses to make sure they are clamped on tight. But if you're getting a lean at idle, odds are something is partially disconnected not just loose. And stay out of boost until you find the issue.
