hi all, i'm trying to get a direct line in for my stereo on my 2006 a4. i have the base stereo: 6 CD changer in dash, tape. NOT the upgrade.
i don't have an ipod. i have a toshiba f40 mp3 player and want to connect through my headphone out. all i need is a line into the stereo.
can someone please help me to accomplish this?
thanks! zach

Check out dension's website or specifically you can view the install pdf for Audi vehicles on http://www.support.diceelectronics.com/ to see how you do it. Basically, the module has two ports on it, one for an iPod connection and one Aux input for whatever else you may want to connect.

I mean, SUPER easy.
Get 4 headunit keys (Notice the little slots in each of the 4 corners of your headunit where the insert) and pull the head unit out. As described in the Dicelink instructions, disconnect the changer port harness and plug the dicelinke in to the headunit. Plug the changer harness that you removed into the Dicelink harness. Connec the ground wire on the Dicelink to the back of the head unit (there is a screw there for this purpose, just loosen the screw and slide the wire under it, tighten). Now route your aux line anywhere you want it in the car. Finally, slide head unit back in place (just snaps back in place, no tools required. This is a great mod for a beginner. Alternatively, the dealer will probably be more than willing to pull the head unit out for you if you don't want to go find a set of keys to pull the head unit yourself (my dealer did this for me). Keys are available on ebay, search "audi stereo keys".

Keys to pull the stereo
Philips screwdriver to loosen screw on back of headunit to attach ground wire.
You'll need to supply your own Aux cable with 3.5mm jack to run from the Dicelink to your MP3 player.
An extra set of hands is helpful when routing the aux wire.
This is assuming that you want to run the wire from behind the dash to the glovebox area or similar. If you want to run the wire, say, up inside the armrest you're going to need the tools to take some of the center console apart, I've not done this so I can't comment.

awesome, thanks, all.
i'd ideally like the cable just to rest near between the seat and the center console so the player can rest in the drink holder. will i have to take the center console apart or feed out the lower side of the front and drag the wire in that space near the seat?
