Default Need Help - Check Engine Light

Ok guys. My girl has a 2006 A4 with the direct injection engine. She has had the car since it was new. Now has 55,000 miles.

Anyways...I've noticed that its gotten a little rougher than normal when accelerating from a stop over the last few weeks. Nothing too serious. On these forums, I learned about the Carbon issue these engines have. Last week, I had talked to my mechanic about the BG flush. He quoted me $180 for one flush or $300 for two flushes. He has a probe and can check it out to even see if that is the issue. If it is caked on there, we would need to take it apart and clean it by hand. We never found the time to take the car in.

Anyways...my girl just told me that, yesterday, the car has been "lurching" at low speeds when she starts to hit the accelerator. Also...as she parking it, it made a "noise as if it was struggling". It was fine once she got to speed. Well...the Check Engine Light came on this afternoon.

I am taking it to my Audi mechanic tomorrow morning but wanted to pick the minds of some more knowledgeable owners.

Do you think that could be the Carbon build up issue? Any other suggestions?

Any help or advice is appreciated. I'll report back tomorrow with what the mechanic says.

Thanks

Did you use the Vag tool or (and) what code(s) did you find?

What type of codes do the carbon issue throw?

I wouldn't rule out smaller issues like a bad PCV.

Sorry guys....was out of town all weekend.

Figured I would give an update. Here is what the mechanic said:

I had 2 fault codes. 1 was an idle speed control error and the other was a fault code for running too lean. He put the probe down the induction area and it was dirty with carbon.

He ordered a new crank case ventilation hose (or something like that) and did the BG induction service. Did an adaptation as well.

Road tested it and he says all is working now with no fault codes. So...we'll see.

$550 plus tax. Picking up the car tomorrow.
