Default New B7 Owner. Audio question

Just picked up a 2006, 2.0 T Q / S-Line

I opted for the Nav/Bose/XM and as I understand it it is supposed to play MP3 cd's. So i burned an MP3 CD with iTunes and popped it in the 6 disk changer. No worky.

Says the CD is unreadable and MP3 is emtpy.

I am afraid that MP3's can only be played via the two memory card slots below the DVD. Say it ain't so.

Default Make sure the cd you burned is of Mp3s.

The player can't play M4A or AAC, the iTune's native format. I had to convert all of mine in order to use the SD slots.

Default The external CD changer on the Nav is the same one used for the Symphony I believe

The new Symphony II this summer will be able to play MP3s off the CD. For the Nav+ is it possible to play MP3s off the CD when loaded in the headunit and not in the changer?

Default No deal.

I burned two cds. One was straight form iTunes which means that the songs are in directories. Artist>Album>*.mp3 For the other cd I burned all of the songs to the root directory. All songs were MP3's with ID3 tags v1.1.

I tried them in the changer...you already know that result. The display says "unreadable" and is greyed out when you try to select it. The single slot behind the nav screen also didn't work. It recognized the disc and diplayed "cdrom", but it wouldn't let you select it from the cd list menu.

I swear I read somewhere that it could read MP3 cds. I guess I'll read the manual...I hate reading the manual.

Default DVD plays MP3 cd, but SD c ard says data corrupted

The cd I made from iTunes plays in the NAV DVD slot but not in the 6 disc changer.

I dragged some folders on to the SD card and tried to play it and it says data is corrupted. But If I copy just the mp3's themselves it works.

Therfore: Changer = CD format only
DVD Rom = CD / DVD NAV / MP3 (No movies)
SD card = mp3

This will work as I will keep my NAV DVD in, use the SD cards for my mp3's (2 x 2gb) and the CD changer will be for Audio Books.

Thanks All...
