I really hope someone can point me in the right direction. My daughter has a 2006 Audi A4 Quattro - B7 Platform. Please excuse my lack of mechanical knowledge as I explain this. Several weeks ago, the car had a bad oil leak. My mechanic replaced the oil filter housing. About a week later, I noticed a small oil leak near the front of the engine. The same mechanic diagnosed the problem and said the timing belt came off and I went to look at the car. What happened was the shaft in the oil pump snapped in half causing the timing chain to get thrown off. I ordered a refurbished oil pump for the car and the mechanic replaced the oil pump assembly as well as a new timing chain kit.. He also replaced the pick up tube, as well as the oil screen and what sounded like a few gaskets. Today he states the car starts fine but he is getting zero oil pressure. He told me the oil pump assembly I gave him is defective. He doesn't sound a 100% confident in that diagnosis. Does anybody know what the underlying problem can be? I really don't want to buy another oil pump assembly only to find out it's something else.

I'm at my wits end and my daughter is starting to freak out.

Follow up for anyone that's in the same place.

Turns out the refurbished oil pump assembly was bad after all. I bought a new one for about $1300 and had it installed. Works fine.
