Default No driver seat/mirror memory in 2007 2.0Ts! Audi is starting to **** me off...

After ordering my 2007 Avant in May, I just discovered that Audi announced in mid-June that the Driver seat/mirror memory feature has been deleted from the 2007 A4s 2.0Ts, and remains as an option only in 3.2s.

When I pay $40K for a car, I have this crazy idea that it should include certain 'luxury' features, and this is one of them. Critical? No, but it's damn handy when you get your car back from a valet (or your wife) and you can easily reset the seat and mirrors where you want them with the push of a button. This is just one of several little features or options (the internal motion sensor for the alarm, extl temp readings displayed on the rear-view mirror, rear parktronic, etc.) that have been wittled away from the A4 since I bought my 2003...and it's really starting to annoy me. You don't see BMW cutting out this sort of stuff in the 3-series... OK, end of rant.

Oh, and delivery has now been pushed back to next week. Grrrrrr!

Dealer told me a few weeks ago that they might hold the 2007s at the port for a bit...

Default No question

One of the things I liked about the B7 vs. the B6, was that with the B7 and the base engine, you could actually configure a 'loaded' car, unlike the B6 1.8T (the 1.8T couldn't be gotten with a power passenger seat, wood trim, or chrome exterior trim for example). It helped justify the increase between the two, between $4,000 and $5,000 as closely as I can figure it.

Engine, brakes, suspension, and equipment level improved over the B6 with similar option packages.

But like you, I don't get reducing convenience items like seat memory or self-dimming mirrors. Headlight washers I can live without, but even those should have been part of Cold Weather or Lighting. Bluetooth I don't want at all, but now I'd have to pay for it to get Xenons.

They must have focus-grouped it.

Default I'm sure they did all the marketing study and everything else

This wouldn't be the first time Audi threw in some options at one year then take them out the following year.

Though the one thing I'm scratching my head is why the 2.0T options here in Canada are different than the US. Weakness of the US$?

Default With the stronger $CDN, they don't have to tighten the belt as much to maintain profit margin.

A reverse of fortune from when $1CDN = $0.6USD. I bet they now make $$$/car now in Canada.

BTW, what are the differences, other memory seat?

Default Differences....

There are a few differences, which are reflected in the option codes here and the US not matching. The convenience package in the US is PPX and in Canada it's PPY, as we have the memory stuff and possibly heated seats as we don't have a seperate front heated seat option (4A3) in the US.

However, having said that, the cold weather package, it's PAW for both side of the border though the US order guide shows only heated front seats while for Canada, it's rear heated seats. Typo? Not sure but there's a lack of a 4A3 for the Canadian order guide.

The option code for the stereo is also different, there's no mention of satellite radio for us (PSR in the US, and PBS for Canada).

I wouldn't be surprised if Audi did make a typo in the order guide, as they accidentally omitted the xenon lights in the convenience package for the US.

Seems common with Audi - when they do a new release they load it up and slowly remove
