I have always been extremely diligent when it comes to changing my oil with any car I have owned. This is my first Audi and right before I purchased the car they changed the oil on it (30,000 miles).
I have always changed my oil (synthetic) every 3500 miles. I was told by the dealer that I didn't have to worry about it until I brought it in for the 35,000 mile check-up. 5,000 miles is an uncomfortable amount of time for me.
Is there something different about Audi's?

It's no different then most other cars. If you want to change at 3500 miles then do so but going to 5000 should not be a problem. I will still not go to the recommended 10000 mile changes on non-turbo engines. So your choice , do what you feel is best.

The technology in these engines along with a fully synthetic oil means that the engine will chew up the oil a little quicker than other engines. It will depend on your driving but always check the level and top up if necessary.
