I did mine online - but did call them once
My experience online with Sirius was terrible. No response and then did not give me the free three months activation on the system

That tech article is dated, and has some extra steps... so I've updated it.
<b>Install Step 1.</b>

The rectangle of plastic above the cubby is a drawer. Use a flathead screw-driver to pry open gently, and slide it out.
a. Use four screws or zip ties to attach the satellite receiver to the tray.
b. Reach through the drawer slot (above the cubby) and find the required wires. I had to remove a zip tie to get enough slack on the wires.
c. Partially slide the drawer back into the slot, and connect the harnesses to the matching slots on the back of the satellite receiver, and close drawer.
<b>Install Step 2.</b>
Adjust CAN-BUS Plug.
a. Remove the plastic cover on the interior side of the passenger door sill. (Plastic piece...) Gently pry with flat head screw driver
b. In the passenger footwell, the CAN plug will now be visible. Disconnect the plug, and move it forward one slot. (From the rear most slot and connect it to the middle slot)
For further details on the CAN Plug- <a href="http://audi.barrystuff.com/s4/satRadio/s4_sat_canBus.pdf">PDF on CAN plugs</a>
c. Re-install passenger footwell sill.
<b>Install Step 3.</b>
a. Press SAT button- you should get the preview channel.
b. Activate sat unit.

Thanks! This was really helpfull. After a little bit of a battle to get the black tray/drawer open in the trunk I was able to find the wires for the antenna and head unit. Now the difficult task is to find the XM tuner XMD1000. It is sold out everywhere. Also I guess I need to get the adapter cable to connect it to the head unit. I called the local Audi dealer and they are asking $535 plus tax for the Audi Sirius tuner (just the part). It is ridiculously expensive. I wonder why they price it so high. I might have to go with Sirius after all. Does anyone know which Sirius tuner and adapter cable I need. I have an A4 Avant 2007 with navigation. I am not even sure what the head unit brand is (Bose, Symphony, not sure). Maybe someone can enlighten me a little further.
