If you have a 2002 model, as you seem to indicate in your signature line, then you have a B5 or B6 model. If so, then you should post your question in one of those forums.

could be oil cooler too....mine went at 82k miles on the b5...oveheated on the freeway

mine went at around 30,000 miles, although in slightly more dramatic fashion and at slower speeds (although I did notice that going slower led to the engine cooling down, but that's just because going slower means less combustion)

anywho, my guess is you'll have to take it in for a new waterpump
