Default Picture of front control arms - normal doamege or screwdriver indiced?

Please take a look at the attached pictures. Is the damage "natural" at 45,000 miles or was it induced by screwdriver.
The mechanic did not consult with me prior at diagnosis and prior to either contro arms replacement nor "Caliper Slide "Service- so it is a suspect.
Also at front brakes replacement Prts $462,, labor $123(fr.rotor + pads) changes - plus extra charge for "Caliper Slide Service" - labor $62.00. parts 0
For back brakes replacement Prts 76, lbr $126(rotor resurface+pads) plus extra charge for "Caliper Slide Service" - labor $86.55 parts 0

Replacement of control arms: (8E0407509P x3 and 8E0407510P x 1) all front, labor charge $427 parts $322.

Both are a suspect because I was not never consulted prior to seeing the biil.

and the "Caliper SLide Service" must be a part of normal break replacement unless they are old, rotten, have over 100,000 and are in salty wet climate (which they are not) and the boot is damaged - which it was not.

The control arms circular seal damages of the control arms appears very fresh, have strange entry flat point, and there is no sand in the bearings. There was no steering, tire wear nor breaking symptoms prior. It does feel tighter after the replacement - but breaking backlash remains.

Need your educated input. I know I was over charged 200% on parts but this was MIDAS I had no better choice, and labor is just fitting Midas. This was the last time I was at Midas. Or am I paranoid?

That looks like normal bushing wear, basically the rubber tears from use. But shame on Midas for not calling you and notifying you of the needed repairs prior to doing the work. If it was me I would have said, "I didn't give you permission to do that repair, but thanks for doing it for free...". Why did you need new rotors? Unless you were riding metal on metal, at 45k the rotors should have enough life to be able to just turn them. And I have never in my life heard of a "caliper slide service", sounds like you have been had...
