Default Problem in turning the key

It happened to me twice.

When I inserted the key and tried to start the car, it didn't allow me to turn the key. I needed to turn the steering wheel a little bit (I needed to force the steering wheel because it was locked) and then turned the key to start the car.

I always make sure the steering wheel is in the right position before I turned off the car so I don't know why it happens.

Any idea?

Bad ignition switch or steering lock? Worn out key? Just shooting here, I have no idea.

Default Happened to me the first day I had the car

When I first picked it up from the dealer, they brought it out front and it was already running, so I drove it home. Later when I tried to start the car, the key wouldn't turn. Took me about 15 minutes to figure out that I had to wiggle the steering wheel.

It's definitely not intuitive what to do when that happens. The first time I let someone else drive the car, they called me in a panic - same thing happened.

Default Normal - even if wheel is a bit off center, engine turned off and snapped to the "right" position

you'll still have to wiggle the wheel to "unlock" the steering wheel.

I actually make sure to 'lock' mine everytime in case someone gets a hold of my keys - just one more deterrent before they figure it out.
