R and T tested a lot of AWD cars - the BMW came in with the bronze, Subaru 2.5GT the silver and the Audi A4 2.0T with the gold. Seems the Subie and Audi came in easily above the best. their comments on the 330ix handling mirror my experience with x-drive - it understeers horribly if you try to get on the throttle at all during a corner - they said it was the worst handling 3 they think they have ever driven. of course the A/S tires could be to blame although the autocross times were run with the course wet.

im still not sure why it was an A4 2.0 vs a BMW 330xi... and not a 3.2

And if they put in 3.2 and 330's then the prices would have been in the mid 40's whereas some cars were in the low 30's... at least that's what the article said

Autobild did a comparison of the A4 3.2, the 330i and the Merc C350 last summer -- the Audi beat the 330i hands down, concluding: "The Audi wins this comparison because of its cheaper price, better overall performance over the BMW, and superb interior."
