I just double checked my notes; couldn't read my own handwriting. The original coding on my car was: 0021261
It is now: 0021259
Sorry about that.
The difference in the coding probably has to do with the way our cars are spec'd out. I'm no VAG expert, so I don't know what's different.
After going through all of the other threads on AW, I took a chance that the B7 would behave similarly and simply subtracted 2 from the coding I had. Yes, I realize that this was a somewhat risky and a bit foolish, but it worked out just fine. (YMMV)
For what it's worth. Info about controller 17 on my car from my last scan:
Address 17: Instruments
Controller: 8E0 920 981 N
Component: KOMBI+WFS 4 H12 0040
Coding: 0021259
It is now: 0021259
Sorry about that.
