Default I thought I remembered reading that this one was not like the euro formula

and it doesn't show up on the audi approved list, just the SLX which is the euro formula.

That is why I posted

If you have a Pepboys or Autozone near you, look for German Castrol 0w-30.

Default It's known as a heavy 0W30, comparable to a 0W40 really.

But the bottom line is you can read the BITOG forums all day long, and you'll not find a single high mileage owner that suffered catastrophic engine failure as a result of using an oil that was *slightly* different from the weight prescribed by the manufacturer. Similarly, you'll not find a single owner that was far better off using the flavor of the month.

Use the castrol 5W40 (or the GC 0W30 if it floats your boat), change it regularly, and keep it filled properly. The electricals will fall apart long before you have an issue with engine mechanicals.

Default Yep, should be fine. IIRC, should be factory fill on the 2.0Ts. I would pick it over the 5w-40.

Even though it's not on Audi's "approved" list, they are VW 502, 503 01 and 505 approved.
