though the "take it to the track comment" always gets to me....like everyone here really putts around everyday with all these thousands of dollars in mods just waiting for that twice a year track day. It ranks right up there with the glorious, "if it doesn't help performance then why do the mod"

I go 75+ when traffic is going that speed on the highway, sure, but I never race another car on public roads. There is a difference.
Sadly, not all that many people that mod their cars actually do take it to the track. They'd be surprised at how well a stock car can do.
But...I still will say take it to the track, I don't really care if they wreck their own car, but I don't want to be the guy they t-bone because they lose control.
About 9 years ago, I was in a realty office that got hit by an out of control Benz driven by teenagers that were racing another car.
It was a 35mph zone... they had to be doing easily over 70mph.
While standing there talking to someone, I noticed a car flying by, I just caught a glimpse and thought to my self "Damn they were flying", then BAMMMM!!!!! We all ducked for cover as the 2nd car hit the side of the office.
Luckily no one was hurt beyond cuts from flying glass. I was 8 feet from the window that shattered all over an old lady as they bounced off totalling Daddy's car.

however it seems to happen once every several months and is always late at night with no other cars of people in the vicinity.
Plus I always lift off at about 85mph (in a 55mph zone) and at about 65mph (in a 45mph zone).
I'm guilty but I try to keep it reasonable.

and for what it's worth, we both know there's a big difference between going a little over the posted limit and trying to relive your own version of American Graffiti!

..but I'm more worried about the old ladies and gents with their big Buicks losing control, running through stop lights, turning into traffic, and in general, presenting a tragedy waiting to happen. Statistics show they are way more responsible for traffic fatalities than 25 year old speeders.

Jon, have you ever driven over 80 in a 55 mph zone? Simple question. I'd put money on the fact that you've had that old Ultrasport in triple figures at least once on public roads...and don't get me started on insurance claims
