... and judging by all the advanced word on the A5 (new evenly balanced platfrom, 300hp 3.2FSI, rear-biasd quattro) I have a feeling that the new Audi will be the more attractive option.

I'll have to research and see if the 335 will come in xi - I imagine that it probably won't happen to not compete with the M3 (if the 335 is chipped)
I have to agree with your earlier posting about rear wheel drive and the amount of power applied...too much power to the rear and you spin out...too much power to the front and you get torque steer.
It seems like it's no accident the 911 turbo and Gallardo come in AWD variants

The 328xi is already available to order now, just that it doesn't have the twin turbos. BMW has a twin turbo version coming out called the 335xi.

You don't want boost spikes and with a V6 and 2 small turbos you shouldn't even notice that the car has forced induction. If what he describes is correct, then the throttle control is not well designed.

Anything I've ever driven/tested/tuned with a turbo, you can tell, though many are much more abrupt than others.
Now I won't discount the fact it may be choppy in the throttle....ever drive an M3 in sport mode? It's awful...
