Default First off, you want the B6 forum for an '02 - this is the B7 forum

But to give you my input, I have a '02 B6 A4 Avant. It has had a few problems, but they all occurred while under warranty. Nothing huge, but would have been somewhat costly if I wasn't under warranty.

What you need to consider is that German cars will tend to cost more to maintain than other cars. It's a price that you pay. But if you maintain the car, you shouldn't have anything out of the ordinary for this type of car.

It will also depend on if you plan on modifiying the car with performance parts. The 1.8T has many modifications available in the aftermarket, but you could pay more to keep it running well if you modify alot.

All in all, it is a pretty good car (has been very good to me). Boards like this forum will help you with good advice and hopefully an enjoyable vehicle.
