Default Steering just too light

I am having difficulty getting used to the boosted steering in my B7. Compared to the B6 it's like a Honda. I don't want to sound whiny but it really takes away from the German feel I found so appealing in my 02. The car feels skittish at all speeds, with pronounced wheel hop, as it it were fwd. This is disconcerting to me. Would lowering the car make a difference? I feel that the B7 rides higher than the B6; I have 17 inch tires as opposed to my old 16 inch on the B6; can that one inch make such a difference? Sorry for the continuing rant. The B7 suspension is just much different imho.

Default This won't change the "skittish" aspect, but if you want the steering heavier...

can't that be changed in the VAGCOM? People were talking about that in the A3 forum...

Please elaborate...I wish for a bit more feel to the steering...I preferred the heavier feel of the b6

Default Sorry, I meant heavier, obviously. Anyway...

you'll have to do a search and some research on this but in the A3, and I thought on the B7 A4, the steering is that servotronic thing, so it's essentially all controled by the computer. In vag-com apparently you can change some numbers somewhere and modify the boost parameters for a different feel. I don't currently even own an Audi, but this is what people were saying in response to thinking the steering was overboosted. One benefit, in theory, of the servotronic steering is that since it's a computer-controlled system, it can be tweaked. Or so I've heard. Search away...

Default What tires do you have?

Sticky summer tires may give you a little added beefiness. Here you can only get all-season performance in the sport package (Canada) which I would change immediately. I'm going to be taking the 3 series out for a spin at the driver development course Sunday night so I think I'd like to test-drive the A4 again for a closer comparison before I make any decisions. If I like the BMW enough (seats seem much better for me) I may wait for a 325iX Touring or whatever they call that one. I do think the Avant styling is better inside and out and I'm a current 3 series owner.
