Default Re: apr stock program has the exact same outputs as the stock a/f ratio...

Very rich like 11:1 or VERY rich like 10:1 ?

Hell, 11.7:1 to 12:1 is considered "safe" as a general rule for forced induction gas applications.

Anything fatter than 11.5:1 usually results in a power loss, although there is the occasional car that likes to be fat so you can crank up the timing.

Damn, wish I had the time to get on the dyno for a few days with a few of these cars.
I have access, just dont have the time.

Default Negative. The APR stock is the latest revision of stock software...

As an example you'll notice their version 2 advertised "enhanced cold weather" performance. Not coincidentally at the same time VW corporation had a software update improving on cold perforomance. This is regularly updated. I don't know if this is the case with all tuners. cheers! Mike

Default Stock A/F runs about 10.5:1 under WOT. This is not the same as what we are used...

to calling rich and lean in the old motors. We have to sort of redefine what we used to say in terms of what was considered normal or not. You will not lose power from running 10.5:1 at all. If you'll notice, a program company running leaner was not having the same top end power as the other company running richer up top in the last comparison. The Bosch ECU has safet measures in place to run the fuel to 10.5:1 when needed to cool the chamber. It takes more than monitoring a vag-com to make the decision to bypass these standards of tuning. cheers! Mike

Default That's not a stupid question.

Running rich means, just like the other guys say, that your mixture is running with a little more fuel than the optimum ratio(14.7 to 1)
There are many things that can cause this and it doesn't always stay that way depending on load input and coolant temp, intake air temp, exhaust temp, cat conv temp, and a ton of other things.
Don't always take the service writers info as what is actually going on with the car. Many times they are explaining something that they really have no idea about. If it's possible talk
to a service tech or shop forman and hpoefully they will want to answer all your questions.
The Audi is strong.....The Audi is smart
