Default Tanner, Ive been searching the Search on AW and ran into many posts of yours concerning VAG codes...

and I am asking you since I feel you might be able to give me some direction. I have also seen your informational posts on RS6.com.

finally, im going to a GTG tomorrow in my area and someone is bringing their VAG tool.

my car:
B7, waiting to do windows up/down, seatbelt chime, and 1-touch unlock.

my questions to you are...

1) does this link (you once posted) to the ross-tech site of the B6 codes apply to the B7?

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB6.html

2)if Q#1 doesnt apply, would you know of the codes for a b7 for:
a.windows up/down
b.seatbelt chime
c.1-touch unlock doors on keyfob
could you post them.

3) while on subject of posting, is there a way that someone, anyone, could simply post the codes and keep them in our AW Tech section?
(i would go there and not ask anyone if they were there for ref.)

thanks.

Default Re: Tanner, Ive been searching the Search on AW and ran into many posts of yours concerning VAG code

1 - yes, B6 codes applies for the B7

2 - basically you need to look at the value via the vagcom tool, the 'decode' it to determine what settings are enabled. For example, the example on that page you linked, you would need to work backword, what values makes up 11788.... which would be 8192, 2048, 1024, 512, 8 and 4. Then subtract/add the values where required. If you want to have the one touch lock/unlock which is represented by 2, you would need to add two and thus getting 11790.

To disable the annoying seatbelt chime, subtract 2 from Control Module 17 (Instrument Cluster).

I don't have the numbers for my car as I don't have the tool, but note that I have seen different default values between a B6 and B7.

Default I'm working on updating the Tech section FAQs with the codes.

Since I wrote the original coding FAQs here on AudiWorld back in 1998 it's been tough to keep up with the changes every year. I'm getting several together now and will update them soon.

Default Tanner, just wanted to say thanks again. i went to the gtg and the coding worked great. did all 3..

the windows up/down
the 1-touch unlock all on fob
the chime (only 6 sec)

originally for the windows, i had 11836 and we needed to fill in 64 to get it to 11900... something like that.. you probably understand that more eventho i wrote it.

for unlock it was also some addition to some number.. dont recall.

for the chime, didnt see. was done quick.

in anycase, the VAG tool software stated "Not US" for windows up/down (module 17?)and i think also for the 1-touch unlock... but we followed some directions from the Ross-tech site you said for b6 and all turned out great.

happily enjoying these mods.

btw, lets say i ended up installing my liscence plate LEDs and the car would tell me a light is out (diff. voltage) - would you know if with the VAG tool you could stop the car from telling you "a light is out" (at every start-up) eventhough they are working great?

Default LEDs draw less current than the bulb hence the computer things that a bulb has been burnt

What you need to do is get a resistor and have one end connected to one end of the LED (or wire) and do the same on the other. This will apply a bit of a load on the circuit and then the computer thinks everything is all fine.

I can't remember what was the suggested resistance to use but it's been mentioned here in the past.

can stop the warning in cluster via a VAG.
but i guess not.

in anycase, thanks.
