I'm curious, did you try changing your automatic transmission fluid first?
Follow my stupid thinking for a bit:
Follow my stupid thinking for a bit:
- The problem really only occurs while the ATF is below optimal temps (for me this issue only happens 6-7 months out of the year, and for about the first 5-10 min of driving)
- Changing the torque converter means changing the ATF fluid
- Audi swears it's a lifetime fluid but videos show how gross this stuff gets over time
- It's a ton of $$$ to change the torque converter, quite a bit less to change the fluid, filter, and gasket (and also something a person can do at home)
- An old TSB that I found when searching indicated changing the ATF as one of the earlier steps
