Ok so I searched the forum and found a number of entries on a faulty trunk latch but no suggestions on adjustment or a DIY repair, only to take it to the dealer and have the mechanism replaced.
My trunk does not want to latch w/o several attempts and a lot of pressure. Sometimes even when it does latch, the sensor will indicate the trunk is open on the internal display on the dashboard.
Has anyone been able to adjust the position of the latch to remedy this problem or is my only option to replace it?
Thanks
Jim

With a lubricant that is very good at penetrating into crevices (Wurth HHS 2000), and it didn't work. He's given up on it, ordered the new part from genuineaudiparts.com for about $50 and he's going to replace it this weekend. From what I understand in Bentley, it's three bolts that hold it in, and you have to unhitch the cable and reattach to the new latch. Should be fairly easy, not sure if any trim pieces need to be removed to access it.
For $50, it's almost not worth screwing around with it. I did find that if I press the trunk release button a few times, the latch would eventually "unstick" and I could lock the trunk. Might want to try that if you get caught in a jam.

I'm actually taking my car in next week to get it replaced. What I usually do as a quick fix is to close it down as much as possible and hop in the car and constantly push the lock/unlock keys and then try and leave it on lock. It should stay shut but it always shows that it's still open in my driver display. Kind of annoying and I did realize that the trunk light stays on as well so you might want to get the battery checked out as well.

The mechanism has to be replaced. Easy to repair the cloth lining is clipped in place, just pop it off with a screw driver of panel remover and remove the latch and install the new one. Should take about 15-20 min.

I am having the same problem. I can see what's happening. It's an issue with the actual plastic latch on the part of the trunk that opens and closes(it's inside the upside down u looking thing). The plastic latch is not being pushed up enough by the metal bar in the lower, seat part of the trunk latch. The lower seat part is in the middle by the bumper. The latch on top(the u) has to be pressed up enough for it to swivle all the way around to the locked position. The bar on the bottom is not doing this. All i've been able to find is people telling me to replace it.
