This should be fun

Almost as much fun as which oil is best threads

Just so you've got a good engine without underlying issues, you will fell like you are driving a new car with the 20 to 30% increase in power...

Most of the tuners are good and are safe for what you want...
good luck and let the dollars and stats help you make your decision

Visit company websites for
Revo, https://products.revotechnik.com/pro...eSoftware.aspx
giac, http://www.giacusa.com/
apr, http://www.goapr.com/

etc.. to see what works best for you...

OH, in every case in my car history, tuning has increased mpg...
not enough to PAY for the new found fun, but if driven the same 1-2 mpg is a normal increase...

Go APR !! Stage 2 at present and the car is a blast to drive ! ECU upgrade , exhaust system including test pipe and carbonio cold air intake . I have had no problems, but do your research to make a good decision . Good Luck !

Unitronic FTW!!!!!!

If you're not switched to an OEM Revision D DV (piston version) then it is definitely recommended. It is a relatively cheap part (+/-$65) and is an easy DIY.

Before or immediately once you're tuned, you should check your cam follower for wear and then check it again every 15k miles or so. This is a major issue with B7s and Audi has an extended warranty out for certain VINs.

Only problem with APR and Unitronic is... no dealers near my location

I know of a close GIAC dealer that I trust.

They recommended stage 1 GIAC along with a beefed up DV and said these upgrades will add about 40 HP

This seems like a good start for my first (of hopefully many) performance upgrades because I am not looking to upgrade Cold air Intake or exhaust yet

I think they quoted the total around $700 to $750

I believe this to be a good price but let me know what your guys think.

A lot of people get a "beefed" up DV like Forge and end up abandoning them. The Rev D or newer OEM DV really is perfectly fine.
