15k/year
drive off with no money out of pocket
$585 / month
what do you guys think? do u think i can do better? i negotiated 1000 over invoice but when the manager was showing me their profits he said they are making $1400. which leads me to believe i'm paying $1400 over invoice.

However 15k miles a year is a lot and so is no money down. Hard to tell without the sticker price as stated above. Also, much depends upon supply and demand in your local area. That plays a lot into it. At my local dealership, they have some 2006's that have been sitting there since July so I imagine deals are decent.

If the car has only the options you say it has:
Manual, WQB-Sline, WPX-Prem, WB6-Sunroof and PX3-Tech
The MSRP should be just under 38k including dest. listed invoice a bit over 35k.
24 month residual on 15k 70%.
Your MF is probably in the .002 range. so upper 500s is about right, without knowing taxes and other details. You may be able to cut a few bucks here and there by negitiating price or MF.
Dealers around here (NJ) seemed to be a little less flexible on the Slines and were looking for more of a markup. I was able to get $600 over invoice for a "regular" loaded 06 A4, but could not budge under $1200 for the same Sline. (but this was with Tip/Prem/SR/Tech/Nav/Bose/Cold)
But, I would think an Sline without Nav or Bose, could yield you a better price then $1400 > invoice.
Good Luck

The salesguy, after all the other grubby hands get their hand out of his deal, doesn't make much on a $1400 over invoice deal...trust me. Probably $350 - $400 max...but I haven't done the exact computations...just a quick guess. Normally salesguys get about 30% of net profit after pack ($250 off the top fee paid back to dealer before any other computations happen). You think you could pay your mortgage, feed the family, pay your Audi car payment, on $3.5 - 4K gross per month? (10 cars at $350-400 profit per car). The average sales guy probably sells about 10 cars per month. Think again.

It is never talked about and that is why us "regular" guys don't know where all the profit goes. Thanks for the details. Makes you wonder how a GM or Ford salesguy makes any money when most deals are below invoice. I wonder what happens there.

A friend of mine that works at a GM dealership is paid $200 per sale on the first eight, $275 on everything above that. She said she averages 25-35 sales per month.

When the B5 S4 just came out..and the TT...dealership sales staff were getting MSRP on many of the cars..and they difference between invoice and MSRP was larger. In those days...$800-1000 per car wasn't unheard of..this was the salesman's commission..not the dealerships share. My friend sold over 300 Audis in 2000..back when profits were good...just think of how much he made..not even counting other bonuses. :-)
Those days are GONE.
