Default When to jump ship? A4 avant 3.2 (manual)

It's nice not having a car payment these days. I have a 2007 A4 avant 3.2L manual. Talking to friends that are mechanics and their horror stories regarding servicing Audi's. I'm starting to wonder if now's the time to pull the trigger. I haven't had any problems, I'm just afraid of having a $2k+ service bill. One particular nightmare was removing an engine mount to put in a new starter... silliness.

Any thoughts? I don't drive it hard. It's serviced every 10k and has 58.5k miles.

That damn CTS-V wagon is tempting me...

Your ride is a rare machine in the used car market... I know because I just bought my 2007 2.0T A4Q Avant 6MT (45,000) at a premium and I can only imagine what I would have had to pay for the V6.

I'd hold on to yours...

I'm in the market for an avant v6 with a manual. Are you really thinking about selling?

New car would likely cost a min of $18,000 over 3-4 years in payments. Can do a lot $2000 service repairs for the same money. Doubt very much you would ever spend $18,000 in repairs on your wagon over the next 3-4 years if you kept it.

If the car is meeting your needs, then don't jump ship. A4 3.2 manual is a reliable daily driver. Id only recommend that you service her every 5k miles (or 3k during winter mnths). Always use highest octane fuel from Shell or Chevron. I'm at 68k with a 3.2 manual sedan and have had no major repairs.

It's a German car. Things go out and repairs are a part of ownership. I don't know how long you have owned the car, but if it's been a few years, you know how well the car runs and how it's been maintained. If it's giving you problems, sell it. If it's been reliable, consider keeping it as YOU know car. Any used car you buy will be a crap shoot in terms of how it's been treated and how it runs. Service, repair and maintenance records help but never are a guarantee.

Thanks all. It hasn't been too problematic.. just the "blinking headlight" problem that others have with their xenons.

CA gas prices inching up to $4.20/gal has made me reconsider that CTS-V wagon.

Thanks for keeping me focused. :-)

You're thinking of trading this....

For this....

Seriously?

From the front the CTS-V wagon looks great...but the back? bleh

To each is own, just my opinion!

Pictures don't do it justice. I realize the butt has been controversial. Then again... name another wagon, that one can buy in the USA with a manual transmission.

Can you? I can only come up with two... Jetta wagon, CTS-V wagon.
