Xenon bulb and ballast replacements?
I'm getting flickering headlights and "headlight dipped" warnings. Usually it's the right headlight that goes out, but tonight the left one went out. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to buy new bulbs and ballasts? I'd hate to pay dealer prices if I can avoid it.
I figure I'll buy 1 bulb and see if that solves the issue on the right side. If not, I'll also replace the ballast. Then I'll buy what I need for the left side.

Just went through this..
The Bulbs are NOT COVERED past 12k miles. Thankfully I have a nice service manager who agreed to split the costs making it close enough to ebay that I couldn't resist.
The ballast assemblies/housings are covered, but I had the exact same problem and it turned out to be a bulb.
Thankfully, you can source bulbs cheap off of ebay.
Search for Osram D1S. Might as well buy a pair if they are both doing it. FWIW, the OEM replacement from Audi went through a couple revisions and looked much different from the stock one in my car that we took out.

...which dealer/service guy?
I have been getting right dipped warnings for a while. They come and go. if i shut them off and turn them back on it usually goes away.....the car goes back in Feb so i don't want to drop money....

okay, just bought my 2006 A4 Quattro 2.0T the other day...love it! although, we're getting the "headlight dipped" warnings...very dissappointing, it's got 45K miles on it, i'm hoping to visit the Audi Dealership and get it fixed...is this a common thing with the headlights??

From what I've been reading, it's pretty common with the 2006's. I'm hoping that just replacing the bulbs will resolve it. I haven't ordered new bulbs yet, but will probably so so this week.

Re: Just had the left bi-xenon replaced under warranty... Would have cost $600 if I paid... Yikes!
When I took mine in they first change the Ballast and when that didn't work they replaced the whole light. They told me the entire thing was covered under warrenty, I had 45k on my A4 at the time.

Update: Installed new bulbs...problem solved
Didn't have to replace the ballasts. Haven't had the "headlight dipped" error once since replacing the bulbs, and no more flickering either. Paid $107 shipped for a pair of bulbs on eBay. Took about 2 hours to install, but I was really taking my time.
