2.0TQ Premium (stripper?), 10k, 36mths, $2500 down (IIRC) for $399 a month. Suburban is advertising this deal weekly in the newspaper. What's the catch?

I don't have access to the ad, but I don't see any catch. If it's the base premium with no options, MSRP is something around $31,500. With this deal, you'll pay just $16,864 for 30K miles of driving over three years. Doesn't sound all that attractive to me. Indeed, Audi is setting the residual values on these 09s such that leasing looks like an expensive way to get in a new A4.

it's no huge deal. At least compared to B7 rates last year. This happens with every first year model runs.

The days of the sub $400-500 lease payment for a moderate to highly equipped near-luxury car with moderate terms are OVER.

It's just not a very good deal on a very very base car.
It's not a terrible deal, just not a very good one.
I'm not sure there are very many really "good" lease deals to be had these days.
This offer is geared to the "I want to drive an *insert German near-luxury car of you choice* but can only AFFORD a really small monthly payment" crowd.

I'm beginning to think you're right about the end of 400-500/month lease deals. I've enjoyed two well-equipped A4 2.0T quattros in the past four years with little down and payments around $450 month. My understanding is that Audi, and other car manufacturers, missed the mark on setting residual values during this period. Now they have cars coming off lease that they can't hope to sell for what they thought the cars might be worth. I guess Audi doesn't want to make the same mistake again.
Too bad. I love these cars. But with monthly payments moving closer to $600, it's hard for me personally to justify the expense. Sadly, I'm looking at 3-series or something else to purchase this time around. Still hoping Audi will make leasing more attractive as the market shifts more and more to the buyer's advantage as the economic downturn continues.
