Default long life oil change interval in USA

I'm thinking its the unique US legal environment that prevents modern OCI tech from being recommended. More prudent to do what everyone else does, just dump it out with old school intervals.

Honda has been using a "maintenance minder" system in their recent cars. There are no longer fixed intervals for oil changes and tire rotations. The computer tells you when the services are due and there is an oil life indicator. I believe BMW is using long life intervals and oil quality sensors for a while in the US as well.

Yep, my wife's Honda has no set interval. It monitors the health of the oil and indicates how much life it has left.
