Default i agree....have a loaner car from the dealer and was hauling @$$ last night on the ride home

it's a nice car, although it's a stripped down model, no nav no memory seats, but it has almost as much room as my c5a6

Default This will annoy me too when I take delivery, I'm sure. I just noticed the same speedos in the Q5?!?

<ul><li><a href="http://iamaudi.com/audi-q5-initial-impressions/">Really Audi? 180mph in a crossover? Really? Wow.. huh!</a></li></ul>

In the U.S. maybe. Canadian "Premium" is roughly equivalent to your "Premium Plus".

If 180mph is stupid how about the 200mph S4 clock?

You can just about make it out in this pic.

Obviously they're expecting the S4 not to be able to cope with a 180mph clock ! hehehehehe

I'd rather there not be a marking... it's not that hard to keep track of 30 mph, it's right between 20 and 40 :P I never did like the 55 marking on older cars, especially after the speed limit was raised. It was worthless.

I agree that there is no point in the B8 A4's speedometer being scaled to 180 but there wasn't really much point in the B7's being scaled to 160 either.

My complaint it that it's scaled to 180, evenly graduated, only uses 270 degrees worth of the circle AND (my biggest complaint) 0 is at the 6 o'clock position.

That puts 60 mph at the 9 o'clock position and 120 mph at 12 o'clock.

I'm getting used to it now but it's still ridiculous.

On my 200 miles drive home from purchasing my B8 3.2, I was cruising on the highway and playing with the MMI. I did not have the cruise control on. I am used to driving a B7. In my peripheral vision, I can see the speedometer needle in a normal position for highway cruising in a B7. I was alone on the highway and the car was so smooth and quiet that it was a few seconds before I really looked at the speedo and saw I was going 100 mph.

Now that's MY fault for not paying attention but I'm sure I'm not the first guy that has happened to.

The B8's speedometer design looks good but it's clearly a case of style over function.
Hope you've set your speed warning by now. Mine's at 80 and has saved me a couple of times, ride is soooo smooooth.

Since this thread got bumped up... I should report that the speedo doesn't bother me as I thought it would.

I find that I have the digital speedo enabled 90% of the time... and I typically loathe digital speedos.

I know you can switch to the digital display, but increments are ridiculous for low speeds. Between 20 and 40 it is very difficult to see/judge what speed your doing.

I am now on a second speed ticket for doing 35 in a 30. Trading my audi in for something else now.

I know I shouldn't be speed and perhaps I should drive around in 3 gear to stop me creaping over the speed limit..
