Default 2009 A4 2.0T prestige deal..

My local dealer is doing special discount($4500) on 2009 A4 with MSRP price.
I was looking for 09 A4 2.0T Prestige with nav.and its MSRP was $44100. First quote from dealer was $39600.
Do you think I can deal from this price or shold I buy it whith this price?
I do not have experiences on dealing a car which has speicals..
What do you think?
If so, what is good price for the 2009 A4 prestige?

Using the numbers I had from when I was looking at 2009s, MSRP for a 2.0T Prestige+Navi is $43,325, not $44,100 even if you add $475 for paint. Regardless, $39,600 is a great price if it was truly new. You can try to negotiate if it has more than like 15mi, but I doubt they'll go down much more!

if that was their first offer, you might have a little room, but i dont think you will have much room to negociate, thats about 10% less and about 1500 under invoice thats sounds prety good.

I would skip this deal.

I paid around 45K last year for ordering, my car also has ADS and metallic paint. So effectively I paid 2K more than your deal. Unless the car you are looking at is exactly what you want it may not be worth it. Also, consider depreciation (it's 09, if you want to sell the car eventually it will not matter much exactly which month you bought the car, it will depreciate the same way as the car bought in the beginning of the year and it effectively already lost more than 2K).

The Nav that you are getting (2.5K) is the old version and it's the biggest improvement in 2010. Many people would be happy to spend 2-3K for that upgrade alone.

Finally, always deal in terms of price relative to the invoice. Most deals are quoted in this way and it makes it easier to compare.

If you are spending 40K make sure you are getting exactly what you want, IMHO saving 1-2K is less important at this price point.

I agree skip this deal,

I just did a price comparison between a 2009 and a 2010 A6 3.0 premier plus and found that the final numbers once the incentives, interest and negotiations were calculated out were pretty close to exact, I favored the 2010 figuring it would have a better resale becuase its a later model, it has the better Nav anyway. Final price for the 2010 was $49,687.00. It was a little tougher to negotiate the newer vehicle but overall I find that comparatively the same vehicle with the same mileage and options BUT only one year apart resell for much more. I purchased the 2010. This is my 4th Audi LOVE them.

So, I just put a deposit down on a 2009 A4 2.0T auto with Prestige, Nav and Drive Select (and metallic paint). Selling price was $41,500 and then I took off $1,500 Audi loyalty as I own a Q7 too - so effectively I paid $40,000 for a $47,000 car. I believe this was sold at a loss to me to hit the dealer numbers for the quarter. A great deal in my opinion non-withstanding the DVD nav which some here would pass on.

The problem for buyers right now is that there are very few 2009 A4s left - but good deals can be had if you're right time, right place.

Another dealer in NJ was offering a 2009 Prestige with nav for $40,000 (and then offering to me for $38,500 with the loyalty rebate).

If I wasn't taking the 1.9% financing there is another $2,500 marketing support to be had for cash buyers.

That is no deal at all. The "discount" the dealer is offering is the depreciation of a MY 09 car sold in MY 10. You arw actually paying full price. A good deal would be $5,000 below invoice. Dealer waives destination charge, and any trunk money goes directly to your pocket. If the dealer needs cash, toss in Audi Care for half price, and a free cargo net.

With the 2010 out there , you should be talking about 3k to 5k below invoice these days.

I don't quite agree with you. Right now, you won't find dealers dropping to $5k under invoice for the 09s. Sure there are 09s around but they are few and far between and with the discounts available, there is a level of demand that is not forcing them to go lower.

I see the argument about getting an 09 late in the model year and the depreciation - but over the longer term (say a 4/5 year period) that will make little difference.

There were a couple of reasons of going in this direction for me. I preferred the spec of the MY09 over the MY10 (the new nav wasn't that big a factor - whereas the backup camera was).

The other thing is that even as this is an MY09, it's 'new' and has full warranty.

I still maintain that the best monetary 'deal' on a prestige now is around the number that I posted. If you need lower than that, you'll need to wait a couple of months - but then there won't be many (if any) cars left to choose from. Several dealers I contacted said they were already out of 09s.

A MY10 will be 2-3k higher optioned the same way (and you'll have to negotiate hard to get that deal).

Just as a last follow-up... I ended up taking the extra marketing cash instead of the financing - that was an extra $2,500.

So, the car ended up being:
Prestige metallic w/nav, Audi Drive Select

MSRP: $46,750
Invoice: $43,944 (approx - not sure on if any marketing fees were on the invoice... I assumed they were)

Cash sale price after rebates/marketing: $37,500.

John.
