this is BS, my dealer drilled right into my filler plate to mount my license plate. Had I known there was an actual license plate holder piece, I would've never allowed this ughhhhhh.

The OEM filler panel (or license plate holder panel) will cost right about $200 from the dealer but you can easily find one online for between a low of about $75 used to around $125-ish new.

You just have to have the ***** to be prepared to walk away from the sale and tell them you'll go to another dealership. You think a salesman is going to lose a sale (and a commission) for a part that costs him probably 20 bucks?

the license plate mounting panel is supposed to be included already at no charge.
But, often, buyers will purchase out of state where a front plate is not required or a vehicle will be swapped by among dealers and will ship without the plate holder panel.
If that's the case, he should, at the very least, be able to trade his filler plate in for free when the dealer gets the license plate holder panel in.
If he's in a state that requires a front plate and the vehicle shipped with the plate holder panel but he just wants the filler panel, to run without a front plate, then he's out of luck. The dealer is under no obligation to provide that filler panel for free but obviously, it could probably be negotiated in the price.
These days, dealership need to sell cars BUT, they are already working with tiny, tiny margins. We buyers may tend to expect a few things to be thrown in for "free" but nothing is "free", and yes, these days a $100 could easily be the difference between the dealer making any profit on the sale and taking a outright loss.
