Default 2009 A4 TPMS Sensor

I am planning to install the summer tires from my '09 Avant on a new set of wheels. I have been told by my Audi dealer sales rep that the 2009 TPMS sensor is unique from past models because it works on a different frequency. Two questions:
1. Can anyone out there confirm this?
2. Is there a price lower than $89.00 per sensor for replacement units?

It would appear that Beru is the original OEM supplier for Audi.

Default Tirerack uses the same aftermarket unit....

...so I think that they are the same, but you could just call the parts dept and ask them for the two parts numbers...

Default R U saying they're using sensors rather than the more conventional rotation comparison technique?

That's pretty poor

Default The passive method....

...using the ABS sensors to determine rolling diameter does NOT meet the TREAD act requirements - accordingly, the wheels need sensors.

But the salesman (surprise, surprise) was wrong about them being different from previous years...

Default We don't have the TREAD act over here. I wonder if it's different for us ...

...or if our sales guys got it wrong as well

Thanks for the info.

Blake P & the other guys,

Thanks for the quick response. This web site is so valuable for the Four Ring Freaks like us. Just think of all the great Voice of Customer insight Audi receives on the North American market. In the end, good for them and good for us.

Blake, killer wheels by the way.

Regards,
Gary

Default Can't find the sensors on TireRack!

Blake, can you point to where you found these sensors? All of the sensors listed on Tirerack seem to indicate that they are not a replacement for OEM, and hence, will not work. Do you know of some trick to find a different set of sensors? Can you provide the URL for the sensors for the 09 B8 A4?

Default They aren't shown online...

I called and spoke with their Audi specialist, Doc, and he got me the right ones. I'm running them in my HRE's with absolutely no problems.

Default Pricing?

OK, can you clarify what the cost was for them, and if you have to purchase wheels from Tirerack in order to purchase the sensors?
