2009 Audi A4L - the new long-wheelbase A4 for the Chinese Market

Built at the plant in Changchun, China, the latest Audi A4L made its opening yesterday in Beijing. ...but the photos they provide show nothing of the longer wheelbase! Are the rears set back...
further or are both front and back pushed out? Is the cabin stretched back and trunk volume decreased? Etc.

Probably by cheapest way: keep front same, extend rear cabin, driveshaft, etc. by pushing rear axle.
Just like BMW or other marques modify their long-wheelbase models (7-series).

The Chinese people are amongst the shortest in the world by nationality, why in the world would they need a LWB midsize lux car exclusively? Is this even offered in Europe?

AFAIK the A6L has existed since at least 2005.
These "L" models mentioned are specific for their respective markets only. i.e. US won't likely see an A4L or A6L any time soon.
As it is the US market finally got the SWB A8 which has existed for quite a while but was not initially sold in the US.

No idea... I thought we asians were short in general :)
BTW, Volvo also has a longer version of one of their cars for China... S80L.
