Default 2010 Invoice Details

I realize the MSRP numbers were released on Friday, but any idea when the invoice numbers might be available?

Using 2009 as a guide, it seems that invoice is about 93% of MSRP (or about a 7.5% markup). This is from edmunds.com. My dealer said that there is only a 6% markup on A4s now but of course, that's the dealer talking.

I am interested in a 2010 and am really wondering what price to target.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Well my configuration of A4 Quattro Prestige 6MT w/19"Sport, Audi Drive Select, Driver assist, Exhaust tips (incl. Nav, backup cam) Ibis White/Cardamom...went up only $250 from '09 to '10. Invoice on this is
$44052 (incl destination) (Add $1200 for auto trans).
I'm not a dealer BUT I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night!

Then reference the other threads regarding the $195 prep charge and the half a percent of MSRP for advertising charge. All that is built into the invoice.

You can ask. I personally would not offer the dealer a price. Call in and talk to a sales person. Lie a little if need be about the details. (But make sure you have at least 1 firm in person quote).. Call other dealerships and let them what you're looking for.. See what they'll beat the firm quote by... then take that phone offer and try another dealer, etc...

I called 4 dealerships and had them knock off $4000 of MSRP. Which is below their "factory invoice" of like $38,439 on a $40,900 car.

I visited 1 dealership to see if I liked the car. 2nd one I went to, I bought it.

The discount you get really depends on the model. You can definitely go below invoice on an A4. The S5 has much lower production numbers and demand is relatively good so you will really have to push to get a big discount. That said, be persistent and talk to a lot of dealers and you can probably get to the $1K over invoice range (or maybe do a bit better).

that kinda was my point, i would think it is difficult to get much off an ordered s5. also, not sure there are many (any?) s5's sitting on a lot that i can negotiate on. perhaps on an ordered a5 i could get a good deal over invoice, i am just not sure any dealer would do that for an ordered s5.

Right, I only included my numbers as an example.

You're looking at a MY10.. which has a good 9 months of selling to go.. So it's going to be easier to negotiate on a 2009 since they want to move those more.. if you dont buy the 2010, theyll be able to sell it to someone else.. they've got 9 months...
