My 2010 A4 2.0t does about 2250-2300 rpm at 70..not bad for a 4 cylinder. It does about 1950 at 60.
I am getting excellent mileage--averaging 25 in stop and go and highway driving my first three tanks--just hit 1100 miles too so she is far from broken in.

This really depends on how you drive. Most people (me included) found that the old EPA method of testing was nearly impossible to achieve in the real world. The newer method is much more accurate for most people. Usually those who baby their vehicles and drive slowly were able to achieve to old EPA numbers.

Interesting but not credible in real world driving. The manual has the been the most efficient. A supercharged 6 has to drink fuel unless your are an old lady uphill from the church you drive to.

The DSG tends to be a bit more efficient on the EPA tests.... its all about shift points and gear ratios. Even the A3 DSG comes in a little higher on the highway, the car is in 6th gear by 45-50mph in 'D' mode. Remember DSG doesn't have a power sapping torque converter either.

Not true, the new EPA numbers actually are achievable....unless you consider real world driving as driving it like it's an S4. :-) In that case, you won't get 27mpg. But, if you drive non aggressively you could achieve that. My Mazda 3 is rated at 30mpg but I can get 33mpg out of it if I drive correctly.

I can believe the 3.0t numbers. If I'm not getting >30mpg on the freeway to work, then there's either traffic, or I'm trying to keep up with that DB9 or Quattroporte to ogle it.
The 3.0T could even get better mileage than my 3.2 at stable freeway speeds if it's a dynamic supercharger setup.

The DSG is basically a computer shifted manual. Google DSG and read about it. It's pretty much the best tranny you can get for performance.
