Do you have passengers in the back seat often? If so, then A4.
Aesthetically I like the A5 better. It looks wider and I prefer the shape of the DRLs, but I have two kids who sit in back and a coupe would be a pain in the ***.

The main problem I had with the A5 is that the MSRP would have been $48k if equipped identically as my A4. In that price range, I would have rather spent a few thousand more and bought an S4, making the A5 difficult to justify.

If you are looking for better performance then the A5 but don't want the S. I suggest moving to the TTS for around the same price as the A5. And if you want a fully loaded A4 you should just get the base S4.

Ditto JD15.
I wanted an A5 but at the price range I was looking at I wouldn't have been able to get the options I wanted. The options I have listed in my signature are exactly what I wanted, the A5 would have been basically bone stock. So I gave up form for function. A5 is a beautiful car and I still wish I could have got one but I'm young so I have lots of time for new cars. If you have the extra cash for the A5 and don't use backseats much, get it.

Trust me I looked. I am kinda picky so there were some things I wouldn't budge on and I really wanted a low mile car which was hard to find. I changed my mind almost weekly on whether I was going to get an A4 or A5 for about 3 months. I decided on buying new which meant A4. My old car also kinda broke down on me out of nowhere so I had to make a decision and find the car sooner than I wanted. The two extra doors are handy when I use them and I still love my car but an A5 has more presence on the road. I also told myself that if I ever bought a 2-door it would be a corvette, so that held me back a little too. Anywho, I love my A4.

I have been having the same dilemma. I like the A5 looks but the A4 is attractive as well. I agree with someone who lamented the sunroof doesn't open on the A5. One thing to consider is the resale on the A5 is better. There was an article a while ago in Kiplingers magazine about cars and their predicted resale value. The A5 was near the top.

The only time I would even look at projected resell is if I'm leasing. I don't really care what colors are more popular then others, or options. I buy the car for me and what I want. I'm the one who'll be living with it for the next couple of years.

Depends on how much you value those options. B&O is amazing to have, but it doesn't mean the stock system is crap. But the sports package is definitely worth its money for the seats alone. I love the look of the A5, and if I have to do it again, I'd take the coupe. On the other hand, I'd rather get a loaded car than a nicer 'basic'. So I'd either find loaded used one, or save up some more money and get an A5 with more options.
