My 2010 Avant w/8k miles is consistantly 26-27 mpg in urban LA driving and 90% always Shell premium gasoline for best non-trip computer calculated mpg results.

My 2010 A4 2.0t Prestige has the 6 speed and I average 25-27 in normal driving. Last week I drove from LI to the Philly area, then to and from Hershey, back to LI, and the next day to Boston and back-average was 33.1 mpg for the entire trip, speeds averaging 70, including an infamous traffic jam in the I-93 tunnel downtown Boston. Total was 865 miles in two days-again avg 33.1 mpg.

Maybe it's the 19 inch summer tires that are helping to kill the gas mileage on my avant.
I'm lucky to get 300 miles to a tank at times, and I'm not driving like a loon. Rarely to I used Sport or Tip mode.

I have been pretty concerned by my '11 CVT as out of a full tank (and I mean full, when I fill it up I put 16.5 - 16.9 gallons) I have been getting right around 340 miles, or about 21 MPG. I would say I do about 50/50 city/hwy. I've got close to 4000 miles on the car now spit should definitely be past the break in period and I dont consider that I drive it hard.
Then yesterday, I took a small road trip of 200 miles roundtrip, doing 70 - 85 MPH and so far was able to get 335 miles and still over a 1/4 tank left (already had 115 miles on the tank before the trip). I'm optomisic I can get a solid 425+ out of a tank which would be great and makes me think my in city driving may nt be as docile as I think it is which is why I'm not averaging the best MPG.

it's worth noting how your reported mileage is being measured. the trip computer is typically ~2mpg higher than if you measured distance traveled against gas pumped.

Here is what I got on my commute to work yesterday: 17.7 miles at 43mph average speed, 40.5mpg. It's a town/highway mix. I started to get good numbers after I turned 7000 miles. Last time I measured the actual mpg, it was 10% less. I do a lot of coasting when I'm in that mood.

I've calibrated my DIS so it's quite close to the hand calculation. I've got about 3000 miles and my lifetime is 24.3mpg. Most of my driving is city. My average speed over a tank is typically 23 - 25 mph....so it's all lo-speed stuff.
I can manage just about 31mpg when on a roadtrip. I'm hoping it'll continue to improve as the miles build.

21 seems a little low. My '11 CVT: I commute 60miles daily in LA and I'm consistently getting 26.5-27mpg per tank (not the trip computer, but good old math). That's with mostly cruising but the occasional drop into S. Also a fair bit of city driving. I tend to drive 80 when going home late when there's no traffic.

As a follow up on my mileage, I was over 30 mpg the highway with the cruise set on 70 on a 175 mile trip.
The steady long highway mileage is superb. Your doing 70 mph and barely pulling 2000 rpms with the 8 speed.
But on stop and go and in town, it's just so-so mileage. So unless you take long steady trips, you're mileage will just be average.
