Not so... Went to another dealer that said no they needed to reset trans based on the tech svc bulletin. Drove good for a week, then problems came back.

Similar accelleration issue as you all. Studder when accelerating from a rolling turn, stop & go traffic. I switched to M to see what gear it selects. Its like the computer is confused about picking 2nd or 3rd gear. Usually picks third gear after the studder.
On deceleration rather than disenging to N, it hard shifts really early and is jerky.

Have msg into dealer to figure next steps. Will keep you advised.
What ever happened?

Ever thought about buying a shift stick next time? If things like this bother you, maybe your expectations are too high for an auto tranny.

The harsh shifts and lurching at low speed aren't normal behavior. I've driven plenty of cars with auto transmissions and most don't behave in that fashion.

So on acceleration, 10k miles later, and me trying to ignore it, it is a bit better, but not as smooth as a 1999 passat or a 2005 honda pilot (so, no I'm not being particular about some uber-mobile's shifting).

On deceleration, it still is not good. The car basically 'gear brakes' in stop and go traffic below 30mph. Feels like a manual transmission when you downshift with an on purpose intention of the gear ratio being a high rpms and the car slowing as its overrevved. On occasion, i will swith it to manual and just let it stay in the higher gear so i 'glide' down in speed. Essentially, the car does not roll when you take your foot off the gas, it decelerates.

Audi of North America doesn't seem to care. Was planning to buy a Q7 when the refresh hits next yr, but my experience with the A4 makes me think otherwise....tbd...

If you find a way to get Audi to do something, I'm all ears. Guessing I wished i had a 6spd 2010?

Write to Audi of North America. My brother was having trouble with his B7's turbo and two local dealers didnt want to do much. After his letter he got a phone call to bring it in and all was made better with a new turbo.

its worth a shot

I wish I could get mine to downshift to 1st before coming to a complete stop. One of the more frustrating aspects of this car is when slowing down then trying to accelerate, and it seems to lug as if it needs to be in a lower gear. Weird thing is, when it's in 2nd and I know that I'll need 1st, I can't even override it with the paddle shifters. If I catch it while it's still in 3rd and downshift into 2nd with the paddle shifters, it's then in M mode and will allow me to further go into 1st. But the only way I can get it to go into 1st from 2nd is either coming to a COMPLETE stop, or moving the shift lever over to M mode THEN downshifting.
