2015 A4 Quattro Brake Rotors
Breaks starting to squeal at 31,000 miles (front I think). Dealer wants $645 for the fronts and $541 for rears - but they said the rotors will be replaced. Taking a quick look - rotors seem fine.
Do these really need to be replaced every brake change ? There are no signs of grooves or pitting that i can see at all.

How much of a lip formed at the outer edge of the rotor?

The rotors only have a 2mm wear before they are "out of spec". 30mm new, 28mm is replace. 31k doesn't seem like a lot of distance to need to replace the rotors, but then it becomes a question of if the rotors will go before the new pads do.
There should be no reason to even consider the rears at 31k; I replaced the fronts and rears (with rotors) around 100k (got car used at 44k), just replaced the fronts again (with rotors) around 150k, and the rears are not near worn.
Unless you do a lot of stop and go I guess; most of my mileage is open cruising.
