8 Speed TIP versus 6SP Manual for MPG?
I have always driven manual transmissions never once thinking I could shift to a Tip! I have a loaner car today from Audi with the 2.0T and was impressed with the response of the TIP when downshifting. Also, It seems this car gets better mileage than my 6 Speed Manual B8. On the highway is it true that in gears 7-8 it will do better on MPG? Why does the sticker on the manual appear slightly better for MPG when my observations side to the Tip?

I don't know what you see on the highway with your transmission. On level ground, around 70mph on cruise control, my car ('11 A4 w/8 spd) does 33.5mpg. I think it's turning right around 1800rpm.
My DIS MPG readout has been calibrated for extreme accuracy

I consistently get worse economy out of the 8 speed tiptronic loaner cars than I do either of our 6 speed audis. Realistically, I don't think there's much of a monetary difference. if you're pulling down 27 mpg or 34 mpg in a $40k car, you're still doing pretty good.

When are we going to see the TDI in the A4? From reading it looks like next generation in 2016 (Late 2015). Would we think the TDI will have Quattro option like the A6 and others? I dont think the A3 TDI will have Quattro.
