However, on the B8, you have the new chassis (MLP) plus Drive Select which is not available for the C6.

If engines are important, then the 3.0TFSI would be the way to go. Unlikely that this engine in the 290 bhp tune would make it to the B8 as everyone could then replicate an S4.

I own the C6, and was at the press launch for the B8 avant. It was beautiful in white with the black s-line interior. Also had the open sky roof.

All that being said, I'll be waiting for the C7 before committing to the 3.0 TFSI which is a brilliant engine. (or an S5 with the same engine + ADS + S-tronic + the new Sport Differential).

for 3 years so I can give you a pretty accurate comparison:

The A6 remains the most beautiful station wagon IMHO. The new B8 Avant is along the same line but somehow I still prefer the A6.

In terms of space the A6 is definitely larger, although the B8 now is not bad and can accommodate 4 average size adults ok (unlike the B6/7). So it really depends on how often and who you carry in the back. If you have to do long trip frequently with back passengers then the A6 will be more comfortable.

The A4 is definitely a better drive and you almost get the same kind of gadgets/quality with the A4. I did not feel like I was trading down when I picked up the A4.

I have/had the V6 3.2 in both cars and the new version in the A4 is really good, despite lots of people criticizing it here. However, I think the new 3.0T will really be quite an engine.

One thing I do noticed and surprised is how quiet the B8 is, even when compare to the C6. I hope Audi worked on this area in the face lifted C6. Otherwise it will be difficult to justify buying the C8 over the A6 just on this area alone.

had a B5, drive a B6 (and a Q7) - but this seems to be a really different car, can't wait!
