Thinking of upgrading to a more substantial car than my ST since there is a bambino on the way. I don't want to give up the manual but getting a safer car is somewhat less useful if the wife cant drive it also.

S-Tronic/DSG seems like a good compromise.

Did the B8 Allroad, Avant, or A4 offer this option and if so, under what configuration?

B8 A4 if Sedan, Avant, or Allroad did not come with DSG/S-Tronic at all, only S4. You would need to go up to a B9 series to get DSG in A4. You can get paddles on any of them though if they had the right packages.

That being said i gave my my 2013 6MT A4 for a 2016 allroad with 8-Speed Transmission with paddles and I have been super pleasedwith its performance even in a stock state. Hoping to improve it with a few mods soon though.
