Sounds pretty straightforward. You need to replace the radio since the VAS can't read it.
Any accident can do minor damage to sensitive electronics like the radio or navigation.

if your car has mmi, the problem might not be in the radio, so look for other errors with vag before you order something

I hear what u guys are sayin but like i said earlier, everything was working perfectly when i got the car. both problems only arose after i replaced battery. so what i want to know is did i perhaps pop some sort of fuse that both the park distance sensor and radio are runnin on. as i said, radio & MMI have full funcionality except sound

thanx again for any info

Default Fuse

Check fuse first.
even if fuse checks ok remove it and reinstall in 30 seconds, this usually resets the sound in the radio.
ask your mechanic to check the fiber optic loop, possible one of the control units is jamming the system, the bluetooth unit is known for doing this specially if water came inside the car.

You might open your trunk and make sure the amp is getting 12 volts and grounded correctly.

Thanx S4master1, iflywoe & SeaBlue!

Turns out it ws just a silly 5amp fuse in the trunk causing all the hassles lol! it somehow became dislodged so all i had to do was insert it again and all was well. found the descriptions of all the fuses in Owners manual. Still not sure why Audi dealer couldn't figure that out 4me, car was there for roughly 6hrs...

Thanx again for all the help guys

Glad it's problem solved for you Archie, but man, I would lose some serious confidence in my dealer's service department if they spent 6 hours on a problem trying (and failing) to fix a problem you figured out by reading the manual.

I hope you told them what the problem was and that in addition to feeling silly, were apologetic for wasting your time.

Depends on the car color. Six hours is not enough time for a sun tan at a dealer. All cars must have a tan before mechanics will look at it.
