* A4 Avant will be exclusively offered in the United States with 100% quattro all-wheel drive, as with today's version.
* Exclusive engine for A4 Avant will be a new high-powered 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that will be announced at Geneva auto show in early March 2008 (all engines mentioned in this AUDI AG press release are for other Audi markets).
* On-sale time period for 2009 A4 Avant will be simultaneous to new 2009 A4 sedan in Fall 2008.
* 2009 A4 sedan will have the new high-powered 4-cylinder turbocharged engine as its base offering, while the 3.2 FSI V6 engine with AVS technology (265) will be an available upgrade (both engines available at launch in Fall 2008).
I guess you can call it a repost as the magazines already said that, but this means that Automobile and others had the correct info. How much does the "high powered" turbo produce? It should get good fuel economy as the 2.0T will get AVS as well.

http://media.audiusa.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=9994</a

Thanks for the post, but I dare say the speculcation will continue. This "official" information seems more dedicated towards the Euro-market. There's still not official release date and no information about the NA version of the 2.0 turbo. Doh!

I'll be in the market to replace my 2002 BMW 325XiT next fall and due to the Mangling that BMW has done, the A4 Avant was my top choice. I'll give the Avant a test drive but if no V6 is offered, that will likely result in me not getting an Audi...uggh.

That's the hp figure that reliable sources are throwing around. People that are simply guesstimating are saying 230hp, but that's more guess than fact.

I am guessing that the 211-215 hp rating will not be exceeded just so that they maintain some kind of separation with the 265-hp V6. But if the new 2.0T has significantly more torque than the current 207 lb-ft as has been speculated, that will make the 2.0T version account for at least 95% of all B8 sales. It makes you wonder why they are even offering the 3.2 V6.
This is all the more reason some of us have been saying that a higher powered V6 engine was needed to compete with Lexus, Infiniti, BMW and MB C-Class . Now it seems like more power is needed to fend off its 2.0T sibling.

I am thinking I am going to lease the new a4 sedan in 2009. Just a beautiful car. when do you think the lease info will be available for it? I am still seeing the 08 b7 info here in the states.
