Do you have to change the filter? I brought my car into the dealership for an oil change, I have 22K miles on by 2009 a4. They told me if I didn't do the 15K service, which is mainly the pollen filter change, they won't reset the service light. Whenever I've had the oil changed before, Audi, or in another case, Jiffy lube reset the service light. I was told by several repair shops that you really don't need to change that filter until 30k unless your driving in really dusty conditions.

I change ours every 20k or so. The dealership will throw you those lines so they can charge you and arm and a leg for service. My dealership wants $50 to reset the service light alone if you don't get serviced by them.

This is so laughable. Go to pick up my car after the oil change.
1) you need front brakes, pads and rotors are worn $720, no thanks
2) get in the car, oil light comes on, add oil immediately, manager
takes car in, in the meantime, "just bring the car in next time
and I'll just charge you for the air pollen filter, no labor"
3) 20 minutes later, "ok you're all set".. Get back in the car,
oil light still on, manager takes the car back in. while
I'm waiting, now says I'll do the air pollen filter for free.
4) 30 minutes later, I'm gonna put you in a loaner, and you can get the car tommorow and I'll also put the pollen filter in.
Question: is it the car or incompetent mechanics. Also when I first paid for the oil change the manger pointed out that I'll be getting a survey and anything less than all 10's is bad for him
